Some people take photography just as a hobby while others who are more professional earn money with it. The nice thing about photography is that it looks like a fairly easy job, but is actually quite complicated. This is why in universities there are entire degree programs dedicated to the art of taking photos. The photographer has to find the best angle before taking the shot in addition to the adjusting the lenses and the lighting to produce the best possible result.
Black and white photography is a subset of this profession in which the resultant photos are composed entirely of shades of grey. The photographer can use the built-in function in the camera to shoot black and white photos, or they can be edited later on using a photo-editing computer program. The black and white effect is usually applied to give the photo a nostalgic and 20th century feel. This type of photography is quite cheap and is usually the preferred style for beginners and amateurs, mainly because of the simplicity. There is no need of expensive DSLR cameras and accessories to produce high-quality black and white photos; cell phones equipped with cameras will do just as well, although the auto-focus feature would dramatically increase the quality of the photos.
